Last month’s issue we talked about how true healing takes time! Are there things you can do to help promote faster healing and growth during those times? Yes!
When looking at healing from a subluxation (spinal misalignment that causes nervous system interference) point of view, the three stressors that cause dis-ease are thoughts, traumas and toxins. Let’s look at ONE way from each category (there are many!) that can help you heal faster.
Thoughts (Emotional Stress): One of the most powerful things you can do to help your emotional health is to pay attention to what you are saying to yourself. Are you saying good things? Are you constantly putting yourself down? What do you think when you look in the mirror? Many people would NEVER talk to another person the way they talk to themselves – and they don’t even realize they are doing it! One simple exercise to start positive self talk is every morning when you look at yourself in the mirror say something nice to yourself. Out loud. It may seem awkward at first but keep it up – it will make a difference!
Traumas (Physical Stress): Physical stress can come in many different forms but one many don’t realize is a stress is actually LACK of movement i.e. sitting all day long! If you have a job where you sit all day, or have times of the day that require you to sit for extended periods of time, make sure you take adequate breaks! Every 20 minutes is optimal to get up and stretch and move around. If that is not feasible, make sure you are getting up at least once an hour. Is it hard for you to remember? Set an alarm (maybe away from your desk even?) so you remember to get up! Your body will thank you!
Toxins (Chemical Stress): We are exposed to so many toxins on a daily basis – more that we realize! A great place to start in reducing your chemical exposure is in the home, where we have (more) control over. Start with what you are directly putting on your body – lotions, make-up, perfume, soap, etc. What types of products are you using? Are they SAFE? Do you understand the ingredients on the label? Is there a healthier alternative you could use in it’s place? Thankfully there are many safe and organic products on the shelves to choose from. There are also many recipes online to make your OWN products! Start by replacing one product in your house with a healthier alternative.
The less stressors you have in your life, the more opportunity your body has for healing. In our office we work to build your resistance and help your body to function optimally.
