Peace

Peace and August- those don’t seem to go very well together right?  August is full of last minute trips and school shopping and new schedules and first days and new traffic patterns and ALL THE THINGS!  But when life IS chaotic, isn’t that when we need peace the most?

When you think of a peaceful scene, what comes to mind?  A cozy cabin in the woods with snow falling outside?  A sunny, tropical beach with the sound of ocean waves?  Maybe a place in your grandmother’s house as a child.  Whatever the place it is amazing by just thinking about it can bring about a sense of peace.

Sometimes a way to bring more peace in, is to identify where the chaos is and try to limit it if possible.  Sometimes chaos comes in the form of a place, a person or a specific situation.  If it is possible to reduce or eliminate your time in those areas it can definitely be beneficial. Setting boundaries are important to keep your peace!

There will always be seasons of high stress in our lives and it is during those times that it is important to find ways to bring about peace.  Often times solitude or quiet can help.  Prayer, deep breathing and meditation can bring about a lot of peace and calm.  Even if you only have 5 minutes it can still help!

Being in nature is another wonderful way to feel more peace.  They have even coined the term “forest bathing” now to show the amazing benefits of being in the trees.  The nice thing about living in Colorado is there are many amazing outdoor spaces to explore, hike in, or just sit and enjoy.

Getting adjusted is also a wonderful way to feel peace in your body.  When everything is functioning as it should through your body, your body can heal and function and it’s best. Often times our bodies get stuck in a stress response cycle.  Chiropractic care works to reset that cycle and get the cycle of healing and rest to return!

This month recognize what brings about MORE peace in your life.  And then continue to do those things!!

This month’s reflection questions:

1- What is the biggest source of noise/chaos in your day?

2- How can you create more space for stillness and quiet in your life?

3- In what environment(s) do you feel the most at peace?
