Spring is here and that is GOOD news! That means more sunshine, warmer days and all the flowers and plants come alive! What a beautiful season to behold.
This month we are focusing on goodness. That isn’t a word we actually use very often except in an exclamation of “oh my goodness!” What IS goodness? Goodness can be defined as a state of being kind, good, generous, helpful or honest. It is being morally good or virtuous, working for the good of others and not yourself. I think it can be summed up well as a desire to be a blessing to others.
One of the most amazing things about giving to others is it in turn helps US! People who give and help others tend to be happier and more fulfilled in life. And those who are happier and more fulfilled tend to be healthier! Is it wonderful when good brings about MORE good?
How can you be a blessing to others during this month? Here are some great examples:
Acts of Kindness – picking up trash in a park, letting someone ahead of you in line, sending a note, saying thank you.
Forgiveness and compassion – forgive those who have wronged you instead of harboring resentment, try to understand someone else’s perspective
Active listening – listen to understand instead of listening to respond. Be present!
Act with integrity – whether something big or small, make the choice that you know is right.
And since we love to always circle back to health, how can you be a blessing to your body this month? What simple task might make a positive change in your health? Maybe it’s taking a walk in the morning. Choosing a glass of water over coffee. Adding a salad instead of dessert. Scheduling a massage or facial. Of course we always recommend getting an adjustment to make sure you are at your best!
And to close with a few words from the Good Book…
”Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life”
Be good and do good!
